I just spent a week in Boston. While there I read the Globe. And I saw this article about the plans to return people to Fallujah now that the “insurrection” is over.
Under the plans, troops would funnel Fallujans to so-called citizen processing centers on the outskirts of the city to compile a database of their identities through DNA testing and retina scans. Residents would receive badges displaying their home addresses that they must wear at all times. Buses would ferry them into the city, where cars, the deadliest tool of suicide bombers, would be banned.
Now, go look at some pictures of what actually happened in Fallujah.
(By the way, the title of this piece is rhetorical. I know what the answer is: “Yes, but we don’t give a rat’s ass.”)
