So, you may recall I had a moment of hope a little while back, when the federal court kicked Cobb County in the ass over their proposed evolution stickers. And then that little bit of hope was immediately crushed.
Well, now humanity, or at least the Kansas branch, is grinding salt into my wounds while I am down.
Evolution disclaimer proposed for books
By Scott Rothschild, Journal-World
Thursday, February 10, 2005TOPEKA — Conservatives on Wednesday took aim at evolution, proposing to put disclaimer stickers on science textbooks and creating a new hearing process for evolution opponents to challenge its teaching in public schools.
Essentially, even knowing that the federal court has already booted this in Georgia, the Attorney General of Kansas still thinks this is a good idea. “Kline, a conservative Republican, said he believed the stickers were defensible and that the ruling would be overturned on appeal.” Kill me now.
The saddest thing is the set of comments from the kids.
Is it just me, or is there a very well-organized attack on science underway? If enough noise is made at the far end of a spectrum, it shifts the middle, you know?
(Oh, and don’t forget, we have some stickers for Bibles available).
