I would gladly pay tall dollars for a really nice hard cover edition of Jeffrey Ford‘s The Physiognomy. Indeed, I would pay even taller dollars for a nice matched edition of it and the two subsequent books (Memoranda, The Beyond). Why won’t someone take my money?
(I haven’t read the new one yet, but based on his past performance and the reviews I’m seeing, I will also accept lovely editions of it, or the one before it–although that one at least had a trade hardcover.)
I know Ford has said: “I’m not a book collector by any means. I really don’t give a shit about first editions, etc.”, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting an edition of these books where the physical object is as lovely as the story it contains.
In addition to Ford being a wonderful novelist, he’s pretty damn good at communicating clearly about things that sometimes get muddy in the course of discourse.
