…and I’m a bit jealous.
Steve has essentially been on the DL for all of this season. Due to the wonders of hockey contracts he still gets paid while he recovers–even though he isn’t playing, so this fact hasn’t pinched his lifestyle too much.
He just played his first game of the season, and in what I can only assume is a bout of celebratory insanity he bought himself a new barbecue. Actually, I think you might have to call this something else–like a “masculine food grilling supermegastation” or somesuch.
Now, that’s a mighty powerful barbecue, and there is some atavistic male impulse in me that is powerfully jealous of his having it, but this is probably an even more insane purchase than it first appears.
Steve drives a full-sized pickup, and when he went to pick this thing up, they laughed at him. It doesn’t come close to fitting in the truck. So he had to make some other arrangements to get it to his place. His temporary place, in Massachusetts. What do you think will happen at the end of the season when it’s time for him to make the 1500 km trip back home? He already has the truck & trailer full of stuff to move at the end of the year–how the hell is he going to get this thing home, too?
Still, it will look nice in his backyard, beside my old hot tub, looking out over the lake…
