First, can I just say that I have a vague memory of what the sun looked like. What is this, the nineteenth consecutive day of rain? Madness.
It has rained so much that the grass seed Sarah spilled on the driveway ages ago has been able to germinate, sprout, and grow to over an inch in length. Yes, seeds sitting on ashphalt with nothing to retain moisture have been wet enough to grow for weeks.
Proof (quickly snapped during the 10 minutes of non-rain on Tuesday):
Second, a continuing theme in my married life–and indeed in that part of my pre-married life where Trish and I co-habitated–is a one-sided commentary on my basically disorganized nature. I am often the recipient of gentle (and sometimes not-so-gentle) ribbing for the state of my office. I now have a response to this, which I intend to fully enjoy.
Just for the record, this is what your dining room looks like if your (very organized) wife starts her Phd, but hasn’t yet set up an office for herself:
Not really visible in the pictures are the stacks of paper on all the chairs except the one she sits in. Each stack composed of multiple documents, with the orientation within the stack apparently encoding some important information.
Next time I need to pile up some books on the dining room table until I build some more shelving, I will be mock-proof!
