Still in transit

I wonder, he said, after spending a day in his hometown, where hasn’t lived for over 15 years now, what is more depressing: returning to your a place you once knew well after 15 years and seeing all the ways it has changed, or how little it actually has?

This place hasn’t been home for well over a decade, but now it doesn’t even feel like it could once have been home: it feels strange and alien, and perhaps moreso because I can see how little the city has really changed in the intervening years, which underlines where the real change has happened.

Still, it’s nice to see my Mom playing Grandma, and to see my brother as the fun uncle.

And the GBCB and Greek salad pita at Greco’s are still pretty awesome.
