Here’s the press release:
PRESS RELEASE – MARCH 05/08
DANNY MICHEL GOES BACK TO HIS ROOTS WITH HIS 1st INDEPENDENT RELEASE SINCE 2001Taking the reigns firmly into his own hands, a new reenergized Danny Michel is proud to announce “Feather, Fur & Fin”, his first 100% independent release since 2001. Sprinkled with tubas, full horn-sections, glockenspiel, harmonicas, synthesizers & banjos, “Feather, Fur & Fin” features a level of art & attention to detail that reminds you of Danny’s very first albums, only now combined with his 15-years of songwriting experience. Debuting 10 brand new songs “Feather, Fur & Fin” expands to topics ranging from religion, love and war to global issues and even Mexican wrestling. If people had trouble pigeon holing Danny before, this album has only made it more difficult.
In the last year alone, Danny has independently released a DVD/CD (landing him a Juno nomination for DVD of the year), produced 4 albums for other artists, recorded a show for CBC radio, spent 2 months on the road with Stuart McLean as the Vinyl Cafe’s musical guest and somehow, in the midst of all that, managed to make his best album yet.
“Feather, Fur & Fin” goes on sale Wednesday, March 26th and will be available through zunior.com, iTunes, & MapleMusic.com (with pre-orders starting Wednesday March 12)
If you want a little preview–a few seconds of several songs from the CD–you can hear one on Danny’s site.
I will, of course, be ordering a copy tomorrow.
I had been planning to be in Ontario for the CD release party next month, but a Boston trip is interfering with that. I’ll catch a show at the Black Sheep a couple of days later, though.
